![]() ![]() Ocean Course was severely damaged by Hurricane Matthew, and it took months and months to restore it, and then Hurricane Irma came and again wrecked havoc to Ocean Golf Course. Ocean Course, which is right there at the Resort, and Conservatory Golf Course, which is 10-15-minute drive away. Hammock Beach Resort is home to two championship golf courses. However, if you chose to rent on your own, and not through the Front Desk, your Membership does not extend to your tenants. The other is non-refundable Membership for 3 years and it costs $3,000. Actually, you need to have one of two Memberships. Yes, there are several pools, but unless you are paying this monthly maintenance fee, you are not allowed to use the resort amenities, except for dining establishment, which are open to the public. One is like any regular condominium, and the other, $417 a month, is a resort fee, which enables owners to use the amenities. To maintain their ability to operate the resort, the setup is that there are two maintenances. It is different with larger condos, which, while can be rented, are also equally suitable for permanent residency. They have One-bedroom program, and those condos are overwhelmingly rental properties. It is an interesting concept: resort condominium. From 1-bedroom condos to 3-bedroom/3 baths unit. Hammock Beach Resort is designed for gatherings of friends and families, with villas and suites ranging from 700 to 2,350 square feet. Amenities available with membership purchase include: two miles of quiet beaches, a $6 million swimming complex, kids camps, kayaking, a full service day spa and salon, surfing, put-put golf, bike rentals, tennis, boating, and, of course, excellent dining choices. It is made up of 750 condos, 11 neighborhoods, and 800 homes. The community offers world class golf and amenities with the beach as your backyard. We reckon Hammock Beach may even exceed the sweetest dreams.Magnificent oceanfront Hammock Beach Resort is part of community of Hammock Beach. There is a second contrasting course at Hammock Beach designed by Tom Watson and unusually named Conservatory. Jack Nicklaus reckons: “As it relates to the East Coast in the United States, you are not going to get any better than you have right here.” Known as “Bear Claw”, the closing four holes herald the start of a tough Ocean course climax, especially in a freshening breeze. With six holes that play close to the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, the Ocean course at Hammock Beach has developed a likeable reputation. Keith Fergus won the inaugural 2007 event before the sponsors pulled the plug on the fledgling tournament. Hammock Beach is one of the standard bearers in the “courses you can play” category (but you must be a guest at the resort to play the course) and the 7,201-yard Ocean course has increased its popularity since Bernhard Langer – with Stefan, his son, on the bag – won the Ginn Championship here on Jack’s Ocean course in 2008. Great golf courses “that you can play” are invariably successful in a country where the very best courses are exclusively reserved for the club membership and their lucky guests. Oceanfront holes are in relative short supply in Florida – despite the Sunshine State boasting more than 1,000 miles of coastline – but they “Dream Bigger” in this neck of the woods and the Jack Nicklaus-designed signature Hammock Beach Ocean course has been rated very highly since it opened its five tees for play in 2000.
